A Simple Method To Clean Your Oven With Vinegar Steam

Does the idea of cleaning your oven make you groan? Don’t worry; It happens to most homeowners at least once! After all, there’s nothing more tiring than having to bend inside an appliance scrubbing until the sun sets.

So, if you’re looking for an easier alternative, try using vinegar steam! Keep reading to learn how this method works.

How to clean your oven with vinegar steam

Vinegar is a homeowner’s favorite. This natural product works wonders on many surfaces due to its acidity, which removes layers of grime and other buildups. So it’s no surprise you can also use it to clean your appliance. To use vinegar to clean your oven, follow the next simple steps:

Step 1. Empty the oven

You will need more room to wipe the grime from the oven walls without unnecessary struggle. That means removing anything you may have been baking, racks, dishes, etc.

Once the oven’s empty, wash the racks. A simple soapy water solution works fine for removing any grime that may be stuck on them. Lastly, as you put the rest of the oven parts to dry, put the middle rack back in place for the next step.

Step 2. Create the vinegar steam

First, find a casserole dish or bowl—it can’t be too shallow because you will need to make enough steam. Then, fill the container with water and add ¾ cup of vinegar.

Now comes the most important part: heat. The vinegar steam will reach the walls of your oven to loosen up the grime! So, put your oven at 350° F for half an hour to an hour.

Step 3. Wipe the grime away

After the time has passed, turn off your oven. Unless you want to burn yourself while wiping, you need to wait thirty to forty-five minutes for it to cool down. Then, take out the rack and vinegar dish to empty it—remember to be careful as they could still be hot!

All that’s left to do is wipe the walls with a microfiber cloth to remove the loose grime. That’s it!

Note: Sometimes, very stubborn grime won’t give in to a simple wipe. In these cases, you can scrub the oven with a sponge or brush before wiping it.

How to clean your oven with vinegar and baking soda

Vinegar may be the go-to cleaner for many homeowners, but—at least for this task—there’s a limit to what it can do for your oven.

So, if the vinegar steam method fails to leave your appliance spotless, add baking soda to the mix. However, you must follow the instructions closely!
